I could not believe that this day finally has come!  My first time walking the Atlanta Journal Constitution Peachtree Road Race! I am excited and hype up that I am one of the 60,000 + racers that are participating in this historic coveted race!  As you know being a part of this race is one of my bucket list goals so I knew that I will not let anything stop me for doing this race!

Before I left out the house to drive to the Marta train station, I heard on the radio that weather was going to be a code red.  Code red is the highest code of very high humidity and heat.  This is not the good news that a runner and walker wants to hear before going outside to do a 10K race!

I knew that I must remember to hydrate myself by stopping at each water station along the race route in order to prevent severe dehydration.  I also knew that I had to pace myself and not start off the race running like the other walkers do.  The worse thing that I could not is tired myself during...

Everyone I know celebrated the fourth of July with a Barbecue.  This year I wanted to celebrate in a healthy way by joining the Peachtree Road Race! This is a big goal for me since I wanted to jump start my new exercise plan by accomplishing a goal from my bucket list.  Before walking this race, I had to pick up my racing number  confirmation at the free Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo.  The expo was hosted at the Georgia World Congress Center, so I decided to go there on a beautiful hot Sunday.  This is my first time participating in the world's largest 10K race and the Peachtree Street Health and Fitness Expo.  I was excited to what fun activities that were going on at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo.

I had to take the public transit for Atlanta called Marta in order to get to the Downtown area since the streets were blocked off for the Peachtree Road Race.  Once I arri...

Now for the grand finale!  The Home Garden Tours! Each year, the Garden Tour Committee selects several gardens to showcase. A number of the gardens chosen have been featured in national magazines, one of which has been featured in over 25 publications, including the most recent one, an international magazine from New Zealand. This garden has also been presented on HGTV. Some of the garden locations feature porches, ponds, log cabin, a mini vineyard and even a tree house. You will enjoy spectacular color with hundreds of hydrangeas throughout these gardens. The Committee makes an effort to feature gardens in the downtown Douglasville area, and in the outlying County. Each garden is different in style, size, and features different approaches to gardening. As an added experience, you will enjoy seeing artists painting in each garden.  See some pictures of the Garden Tours by clicking here !

So excited about taking the miniature gardens tours!   The lead hydrangea is Ocean and the theme is “Making Waves” in a positive way for the community. Miniature gardens in small containers including wheelbarrows, pots, and a multitude of other creative containers. The miniature gardens include plants, miniature garden furniture and structures and more.

Each year the Douglas County Master Gardeners spend countless hours working hard to create this beautiful vegetable garden to feed the less fortunate members of our community.  In addition to seeing the vegetable garden, you will enjoy the artistic creations of themed scarecrows.

So much to see in so little bit of time !  Want to see some more pictures.  Click here and Enjoy!   Next week, is the Home Garden Tours!
